MEET KRISTEN

Kristen Evans is the parent of three current Jenison students, education professional, experienced organizational leader, and trusted HR consultant. Kristen is a longtime district volunteer and advocate who believes strong schools are built through collaboration, continuous improvement, and responsible stewardship of community resources. Jenison Public Schools has much to be proud of, and like any successful organization, it must continue to adapt to meet the changing needs of students, families, and the broader community. Kristen cares deeply about preserving and strengthening the opportunities available to all Jenison students and has the experience to contribute meaningfully to Board of Education.

CORE PRIORITIES

student growth & achievement

Our responsibility is to educate and prepare students for their lives after graduation, whether that is continued education, trades, military service or entrepreneurship. That requires maintaining high academic standards, supporting meaningful student growth, and ensuring students have access to the resources and opportunities they need to reach their potential.

safety, belonging & wellbeing

Students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and connected to their school community. That includes thoughtful attention to physical and emotional safety in addition to the increasingly complicated challenges associated with technology and social media. Kristen supports strong cocurricular opportunities as an important part of helping students find connection and belonging.

Fiscal responsibility

Public schools have finite resources, and district administration has a responsibility to be a careful steward of those resources. The role of the Board of Education is to know where the dollars are going, evaluate whether investments are producing the intended outcomes, and prioritize resources that have a meaningful impact on student learning, growth, and success.
